How to Ask the Angels for Help - Be Willing to Hear Them.  Part Two.

This article began simply by receiving several requests to share how I ask the angels for help. When I wrote it, someone suggested it would be helpful to know more about how I came to connect with angels. The story is in two parts.  How I came to know them is in Part 1.

Even with my discovery of angels being near, their willingness to answer our calls for help, support, healing or creating, I found difficulty in asking. Were angels really here to help me? Me?? I felt that my requests either wouldn't be heard or honored because I wasn't enough. I just didn't feel worthy of their support.  I learned that we have to put that feeling aside and just be open to them. Be open to hearing, feeling, seeing them. Be open to receiving.


How do we open to hearing from the angels? 


Meditation is a powerful tool. Meditation is actually prayer on steroids. It's a process that helps us direct our thoughts to what we want, and helps us allow ourselves to receive. Just showing up for meditation for 10 minutes every day will make a huge difference in your life. 



The basics of meditation:


Meditation is a simple process. Deep breathing, and letting go of tension in the body. Thinking is normal. We will never be able to stop thinking. But we can redirect our thoughts. When you first sit down, focus on breathing and letting go of body tension, a thought will pop up. When you recognize that you're thinking of something other than your breath, just gently acknowledge it and tell yourself you will think about it later. Return your attention to your breath. 


It is in the space between your focusing on your breath and when the next thought that pops up, that you are moving into the state of connection with source or your higher self. You are actively creating that space by letting go of the thoughts and returning focus to your breath.


The more you practice letting go of those thoughts and return to that space you're creating, the longer you stay there without the thoughts intruding. You develop a habit of letting go. Meditation has a cumulative effect. It gets stronger and more powerful over time, like lifting weights makes your muscles stronger.



Set intention prior to meditation


Choose what you want.  To know who is working with you? Who is your guide? To release tension? To open your heart? To feel peace? 


Set your intention. “Thank you for showing me who is working with me” and letting it go. Don't search for the answer. Just follow the breath, let go of intruding thoughts, return to the space of connection you're creating. You may have immediate experiences as I have described earlier, or it may come as a thought during or afterwards. Write it down. Take it. The regular practice of meditation will help you stay in that connection even when you aren't not meditating. 


I had a client who asked who her guide was. She heard the name Kim but didn't believe it. She saw that particular name appear over and over in Zoom meetings, license plates, etc. Finally in a session with me she asked who her guide is and I said “does Kim mean anything to you?”.  We both laughed, she got the answer but didn't take it at first. 



Words matter when asking for help from angels 


I discovered that the words I chose carried an energy and although my intention was to ask for help, I was locking myself into the challenge I faced by using words which expressed a different meaning. Words and the law of attraction. This article explains the energy within the words we choose. Words are important. 



How to phrase the asking from the angels


Living in NYC most of my life, I was unaccustomed to driving. Moving to a town outside of NYC I was now driving everywhere. When pulling out of a parking lot, crossing two lanes of traffic to make a left turn I just couldn't get the timing right. Instead I’d make a long series of right turns to avoid it. 


One evening, I saw that if I made my usual series of right turns I would add way more than a few extra minutes to my drive home. I decided to try again with the left turn. I muttered a prayer “ok angels, I'm so scared crossing this road, I don't want to get into an accident please help me.” Absolutely nothing happened and I was still afraid to cause an accident. Then It occurred to me - ask differently. So I said “Thank you angels for safely guiding me across this road. I feel so safe and confident driving when you are with me.” My mind was blown when it seemed as if by magic, the traffic stopped and there was a clear, safe opening for me to turn. I did turn and there were no brakes squealing or drivers cursing at me. It worked! 


That was my turning point in understanding. Let me break it down. 

Example: "Thank you Angels for safely guiding me across this road. I feel so safe and confident when you are with me"


  1. "Thank you" places you in a state of gratitude. It elevates you closer to a state of love, which is where the angels dwell.


  2. "Thank you Angels" activates a law of attraction principle: We normally say thank you after we receive something. We are triggering our brain to feel that we have already received what we are asking for.


  3. ...for safely guiding me across this road" Positive affirmation: We are stating what we do want, not what we don't want. 


  4. "I feel so safe and confident knowing your with me" Stating how it feels. Affirming what we want to experience. 


Since then I have been getting into the habit of asking the angels for help in this way. It's a process that takes some time as rewiring the neural pathways in our brain can be a slow process (unless you're having fun - which is an entirely new article). 


Do I always do this? Not really, but I'm getting better at remembering to. At first I set messages to pop up on my phone to remind me. Eventually, I started my day, before I even opened my eyes, saying to them: “Thank you Angels for reminding me of your presence. It feels so good knowing you are with me.” Later I added, “I'm ready to hear any messages you have for me.”


Angels can help in many situtions


Sometime later, in the midst of a challenging situation (an argument) with a person close to me, I was on the verge of saying something I surely would regret. Just then, I felt a tap on my shoulder and heard a whisper in my ear “Ask us for healing”. I paused, silently thanked the angels for helping me heal this. I was half heartedly asking because I really wanted to stand up for myself.  It didn't heal the situation immediately but rather through an unfolding. Immediately it stopped me from doing something foolish at that moment.  Moving forward, each time I felt triggered, I asked for healing, understanding and clarity. Eventually I saw that my own issues were presenting in a way that unknowingly triggered others. And my reaction to their triggered behavior just escalated the situation. When I saw my own fault or insecurity being revealed, I asked for healing. Over a relatively short period of time, those situations ceased to come up. Harmony prevailed. 


I don't always remember to ask for help although I'm becoming more consistent. By asking and allowing yourself to receive you will be developing a connection with them and the evidence of their presence will be seen and felt more easily by you.

 

Here are some examples of how I ask angels for their help. It's what works for me.

 

First ask of the day:

“Thank you Angels for letting me be of service in a way that serves my joy and my financial abundance and stability.”


“Thank you Angels for reminding me of your presence and any

messages you have for me, I am ready to receive them.”


As the day goes on when anything good happens:

"Thank you Angels for this sign of the good things all around me. I feel so connected to you”. 


If I catch myself thinking of something that makes me feel even a little bit happy.

"Thank you Angels for this glimpse of happiness that is here for me. I love feeling joyous. More please!”


It actually helps you to look for the good stuff around you (law of attraction). 


When I'm sad:

“Thank you Angels for helping me through this process of forgiveness and healing. Knowing you are guiding me makes me feel safe and whole.”


When I'm feeling triggered:

“Thank you Angels for helping me understand what I need to heal and help me move through it and release it.”


When I'm feeling good:

“Thank you Angels for showing me my greatness and the abundance all around me. More please!”


When I'm going into a tailspin of woe (thinking things aren't good yet, don't have enough, I'm not enough etc):

“Thank you Angels for redirecting my thoughts towards abundance. I know you have my back and abundance is here for all of us”


Or 


“Thank you Angels for helping me to see my life through your eyes. I see the beauty unfolding in miraculous ways.”


When I'd like to be recognized for who I am either through my own eyes or by others:

“Thank you Angels for helping me understand my gifts, and safely guiding me through the process of understanding them. It feels so good being with you.” 


When I feel I'm struggling to express myself:

“Thank you Angels for helping me speak my truth with ease. I know your strength supports me.”


When I am uncertain of where I am or what to do next:

“Thank you Angels for guiding and protecting me. Thank you for bringing me clarity. I'm ready for the next step. I feel so safe with your light around me.”


When I just want more peace or if I've been feeling grumpy:

“Thank you Angels for opening pathways to peace and harmony for me. I'm ready for understanding and balance.”


When I've got an issue that needs to be solved:

“Thank you Angels for putting solutions on my path and let me be open to them. I trust in your guidance and feel confident.” 


When I feel a little less confident:

“Thank you Angels for helping me to recognize my greatness and giving me the courage to be who I truly am. I know I am safe to reveal myself. ”


When I feel a little blue, or physically not up to par:

“Thank you Angels for the healing energy you are giving me. I feel healed and loved.”


When I'm going through life changes (a move, job change) or personal changes (like eating better or trying to be healthier): “Thank you Angels for safely and calmly guiding me through this transition.” Or “transformation”. 


When I need help:

“Thank you Angels for putting the right people on my path to support me and help me see them. I know, with your support everything works out perfectly.”


If you're looking for a job:

“Thank you Angels for guiding me to the job that is right for me. Where I can be of service in a way that supports my joy and security”


When I need to let go of hurt or anger:

“Thank you Angels for helping me to forgive myself and others. I love the freedom and expansion it brings.”


When I want a little extra love and comfort:

“Thank you Angels for showering your light and love upon me.

I feel so safe and protected with you.”


When I'm in an uncomfortable situation or navigating a life issue:

“Thank you Angels for always guiding and protecting me, I feel

so good when you show me the way.”


When I feel overwhelmed:

“Thank you Angels for helping me

transcend these challenges and take the weight off of my shoulders.”


When I am afraid of something (can be something real or imagined):

“Thank you Angels for helping me release my fears, I feel so safe when you're with me and know I have nothing to fear.” 



And lastly, I tend to say “Thank you angels for this wonderful day to use in your service. Thank you for the miracles you brought to me.” (They define miracles as us correcting our perception so we see love).


All of these statements or asking of the Angels is also positive affirmation and reinforcement.
